Handwritten Letters
I just wrote a letter. A hand written letter, on paper, ready to drop in the postbox.
In the modern days of e-mail and text messaging, Facebook and twitter - I have noticed that this way of communication has vastly took a plane trip into the past. When we want to talk to someone now, we just pick up the phone or we open up a new e-mail, it's quick and easy and it means we get our response ASAP.
However, as sincere as it may be, it just doesn't let off the same relief or feeling as a letter does.
I say this meaning that, when writing a letter there's a sense of relief about finally getting your emotions out. They're right there in front of you, on that piece of paper.
The most beautiful thing about writing a letter is that you can actually see your emotions in your writing. You can see where you were excited - your writing got all messy as you were throwing it out so quick, where you weren't sure what to say next - a few spots of ink where you were going to write but didn't, where your words were 110% from your heart - your writing is shaky as you were scared but relieved to get the words out.
A letter, to me, is so much more beautiful and heartfelt than an e-mail or a text message and even though it's not convenient and it's quite time consuming, let me tell you, it feels so much better to write out your feelings and know that someone is going to open this letter and see exactly what you mean and how you felt when writing it.
The next time you want to tell somebody how you feel or just share your feelings with them, write it down. I promise you, it'll do you good (and they'll be super flattered that you took the time to do it).
Yours truly, Lauren. xo

I feel this exact way too! At the start of the year I made one of my new years resolutions to write letters and cards to people. So far I've stuck to that, and I've sent every one of my friends a card on the birthday and I've also sent a few random letters. The sad thing is that all of them reply with a text message but never set aside the time to write back. Oh well, as long as it makes them happy then I'm happy!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog! I was wondering if you would check out mine? I've just uploaded a post on altering an old tartan shirt :) Thanks!
