Happy New Year!

12/31/2013 goodbyegone 3 Comments

How is 2014 only a couple of hours away? That's crazy. It feels like yesterday that 2012 was ending and I was ringing in the new year lying on my sofa, oh so badass, I know. I kind of don't want 2013 to end, it was such a great year for me. I feel like 2013 was the year that I was genuinely happy, I really took my happiness into consideration and weeded out all the bad aspects of my life and even though it sounds cliché, it really worked. I look back on this time last year and I can see that a lot of things have changed.

The one thing that hasn't changed, however, is the fact that I didn't keep my New Year's resolutions. None of them. So I'm writing here, right now, I'm gonna keep them this year. To help me keep them, I'm gonna write them here and come back to this post next year and let you guys know which ones I kept and which ones I didn't, so here we go:
Work hard in school
Eat healthier & drink more water
Exercise more & not be as lazy
Use the internet less but blog at least once a week
Take more pictures & make more memories

Okay, so there they are. I don't know how I'm gonna do them all but I'm certainly gonna try. Let me know what your resolutions are or do you not have any?

I wish you all a happy new year and I hope 2014 treats you well, see you then! Lauren, xo.

Mini Haul

11/08/2013 goodbyegone 3 Comments

Hi everyone. About a week ago I was in Superdrug browsing around and I noticed they had a 3 for 2 sale on ALL of their make-up products so of course I used this as an opportunity to buy myself all the stuff I needed atm. Although I bought everything about a week ago, I wanted to wait until I'd used the products so that I could give you all a little mini review of them as I decided to try out a new mascara and a new concealer (you'll see that I was very late to hop onto both of these  products but hey what can ya do, eh?)

Maybelline Falsies Mascara
I was hesitant on buying this as I was so comfortable with my last mascara but the little lacy pattern on the cap broke me. I'm a sucker for cute packaging and I'm glad I am, hahaha. I literally fell in love with this the first time I used it. It's everything you want from a mascara - lengthening, volumising and no clumping. It's perfect. :)

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer
I've been wanting to try this for a while but I put off until I was finished with my last concealer and I wish I would've tried it sooner. I can literally see this concealer lasting me so long because the tiniest drop goes the longest way. This is by far the best concealer I've ever used and for being super cheap, I can see myself buying so much more of it.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
I picked this up because of the 3 for 2 offer really but I've been using this powder for about 2 months now and I love it. Just like the Collection concealer, a little goes a long way and it never leaves my face looking cakey so that's a plus in itself! :)

F&F Boots
I haven't worn these boots yet but I really needed new ones and these were too cute to leave behind. If you'd like me to do a post on how I style these boots comment below and let me know!

Thanks for reading <3

Christmas Wishlist

11/04/2013 goodbyegone 0 Comments

As you know, Christmas is coming up which means that I had to do a little online browsing. I came across a few things that I'd really like to get and I just wanted to tell you a little bit about each of them. Yaaaaay. :)

MICHAEL KORS LADIES FELICITY WATCH MK3227 £175.56: I was browsing through thewatchhut.co.uk and I came across this lovely watch. I instantly fell in love with it's pretty but sleek design. I feel as though the grey and rose gold compliment eachother really well. This is definitely something I'd like to see perched under my Christmas tree.

River Island Quilted Winged Colourblock Tote Bag £45: I'm not one to carry bags but that's mainly just because I literally don't have any that I like that much. When I saw this bag I instantly knew that I would get so much use out of it. For one I know it would go with everything I wear and it's also just way too beautiful to leave lying in your room.

A Question Of Organic Paris Sweatshirt £75: Now. Can we just talk about this jumper for one second. Oh my gosh. I am literally SO in love with it, it's not even funny. At £75, it is a little but on the pricier side of things but I know that I'd probably wear it every other day.

What's on your Christmas wishlist?

New Music

10/20/2013 goodbyegone 0 Comments

Hi everyone, I'm so sorry again for not posting much lately. I've been sick and tired and school's been getting in the way but I'm gonna try and post more after I get better. :)

Anyway, I've found some new music this month which I really want to share with you. Mikey Wax DM'd me on twitter and gave me a link to download his songs and oh my gosh, they are amazing. I never know what to expect with new music because I always end up going back to my trusty no-skip playlist and now I've added all of these songs to it! Haha. Although I loved them all I chose my three favourites to do a little review of, below!

You Tell Me When - This is my favourite of the songs. I just really love the sweet lyrics and the happy melody. The fact that it's like a little story of two people falling in love and how their story unfolds is really lovely to listen to.

How It Feels - I don't know why but I really love the way this song is about heartbreak but is still very up-beat and sort of happy. Even though the music is very happy, it doesn't take away from the emotion portrayed in the lyrics which is just beautiful.

In Case I Go Again - This song was featured in Pretty Little Liars which is why I recognized it the first time I heard it, haha. Nonetheless, it's peaceful melody and emotion in the lyrics is so relaxing and I feel so relieved everytime I listen to it.

These are just a few of Mikey's songs that I really love but he has so much more music that's really, really great so please go and check him out! He's super talented and I'm 100% sure you'll love his music too!

Like The Colours In Autumn

9/26/2013 goodbyegone 0 Comments

Like the colours in autumn so bright.

Source: weheartit.com

Now that that the leaves are starting to brown and fall off the trees whilst it starts getting dark at 7 or 8, it's evident that autumn is here. Autumn is probably my favourite time of the year (other than Christmas obviously). I just wanted to do a little post about why I love autumn and I also wanted to share some of my autumn music favourites with you guys. :)

The one thing I love most about autumn is wrapping up all nice and cosy and spending nights at home, sipping tea and watching movies. There's just something about it that makes my heart feel warm and I literally crave the feeling throughout the year.

HALLOWEEN, well that isn't obvious at all is it??? I love Halloween, it's such a fun time of year! I'm more excited for this Halloween than I ever have been before 'cause my friend is having a party and we're all gonna dress up and oh I'm getting all too excited right now. I'm also super pumped for my costume (which I'm keeping secret for now ;) but you will find out what it is haha), I've been itching to wear it for so long and I'm so glad I finally can!

Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Can we just like, take a sec to indulge on these? Oh. My. God. Last year, Starbucks in the UK brought out the Pumpkin Spice Lattes and woah, I got hooked. I was hesitant to try it at first but so many people were raving about them so I just had to and let me tell you, it was a veeeeeeeeery good decision. If you haven't tried one, PLEASE do, you really will not regret it. :)

I have so much more I love about the fall/autumn time but we'd be here for ages if I wrote down everything. Haha, but I do want to give you a little peek at what music I love for autumn so here we go.

Move - Little Mix // All Too Well - Taylor Swift // Treacherous - Taylor Swift // Tattooed Heart - Ariana Grande // Leaving California - Boys Like Girls // Autumn Leaves - Ed Sheeran // In A Song - Hunter Hayes // Demons - Imagine Dragons // Roar - Katy Perry // Closer To Me - Megan and Liz // Nervous Girls - Lucy Hale // White Horse - Taylor Swift // Love Story - Taylor Swift // Haunted - Taylor Swift // Last Kiss - Taylor Swift //

Let me know what you love about autumn and what music you're loving atm. :)

Quick Little Update

9/14/2013 goodbyegone 2 Comments

Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I know I've been a bit M.I.A the past few weeks and I just wanted to give you guys a little update.

I just started Sixth Form this year and so far I love it. There's a lot of work involved but I'm actually really enjoying it and it's so different from last year. I took French, English Lit, Maths and Drama on to A Level and I really hope I can carry them all on next year, too.

Anyway, the reason I've not been posting a lot is because I've been so busy with all my homework and such things. Oh, and I got a part in our school musical which I'm very, very excited about. We have to stay behind every Wednesday and Thursday for singing and choreography rehearsals. I'll admit the first two rehearsals were a little difficult but I finally got what was going on. Haha. If you'd like me to go into more detail on that, just leave me a comment letting me know :)

I've got a few blog posts planned out but it might take me a little while to get them up. I hope you guys don't mind not hearing from me and I'll keep my blogging hat with me from now on!

Lauren, xo.

Shockwaves Hairspray Review

8/27/2013 goodbyegone 1 Comments

After running out of my beloved L'Óreal hairspray, I rushed to the shop to pick up some more. After looking at the big selection of hairsprays I decided that it was time for me to step out of my comfort zone and try a new one. With it's bright blue and red, very shiny packaging, the 'Shockwaves Ultra Strong Power Hold' hairspray instantly caught my eye. After reading what it has to offer and at only £2.50, I decided to purchase it as it wasn't really a big loss if I ended up not being very happy with it.

The product claims to:
  • Keep your style just as you styled it.
  • Finish off your style with a dose of shine.
  • Long-lasting hold.
  • Brushes out easily.
  • Doesn't leave hair sticky.
A lot of hairsprays that I've tried claim all of this but very few deliver (even high-end products). However, this particular product seemed to be like a needle in a haystack of drugstore & high-end products.
As I have naturally wavy (almost fully straight) hair, when I curl it, it tends to fall during the course of the day but when I sprayed this over my curls, the style stayed throughout the day AND left me with nice beachy waves for the next day. Although I didn't notice my hair to be any more shiny than usual, I wasn't left with a stick head and when I brought a brush through my hair, it all stayed on my head.

*excuse the photos, I'd taken them about 200 times and they still came out like this*

Overall, I was very, very happy with this hairspray and I will definitely be repurchasing it and I would highly recommend you do the same! :)

Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored, I bought the product with my own money and all opinions are my own.

A Day At Fota Island

8/25/2013 goodbyegone 0 Comments

Recently I went on a little trip down to Cork. Although I was desperate to get home, I really did have a good time. During our trip we went to 'Fota Island', a wildlife park about 40 minutes away from our hotel. I'm not usually one for these kind of excursions as 16 years worth of trips to the Zoo has done me out, however, this was so different from anywhere I;d been and I loved it. From watching Cheetahs feed the way they would in the wild to being inches away from a kangaroo, I would recommend this place to anyone in a heartbeat.

Have you been anywhere like this before? If not, you should! :)

I Heart Summer Tag

8/12/2013 goodbyegone 1 Comments

So I recently started a YouTube channel, what?! I decided it'd be a nice little hobby for me and it'd be so much easier for me to explain tutorials and things to you all. I'm definitely not gonna stop my blog but the two will coincide once in a while :)

Here's my first video:

Annnnd here's a little break down of all the questions and products mentioned and why I chose them:

1. Favorite bronzer for summer?

Don't use it! Looks horrible on my skin and I just don't suit it.

2. You're relaxing in a hammock, on a tropical island. What are you sipping on? (Favorite summer drink)

Iced caramel latte! Caramel lattes are probably my most favourite drink ever and I drink them all year round!

3. Favorite summer lip product?

Vaseline or the I love... Strawberry Milkshake lip balm. Both of these products just help keep my lips soft and moisturized. Also the 'I love...' lip balm gives your lips a nice tint and smells delish.

4. Pool or Beach?

Beach! :) I like having fun and having space to enjoy the day which the beach offers. The pool can often be quite cramped and it's kind of hard to enjoy your time there.

5. Summer = crazy hair! What's your must-have styling product?

Schwarzkopf (which I can't say) texturizing salt spray: This gives you really nice beachy waves and doesn't leave your hair feeling sticky so it's great!
No7 hair protecting spritz: gives your hair a nice layer of protection. What I love about this is that it doesn't smell bad and it doesn't make your hair feel any different :)

6. Sun bathing or fake tan?

Sunbathing. I can't use fake tan, hahaha. It always looks HORRIBLE on me. Soooo, definitely sunbathing.

7. Favorite summer nail polish?

Any light, pastel-y colour! They're just so nice and girly and are great for the summertime!

8. Any summer traditions?

Going on holidayyyyy :)

9. Favorite summer scent?

Wonderstruck by Taylor Swift & Taylor by Taylor Swift. They both just smell unbelievably good and really remind me of summer when I smell them :)

10. Favorite BBQ food?

Everything.

11. What's your favorite summer-proof product?

Suncream 'cause it protects you from the sun. Foolproof :P And deodorant so you don't feel icky when it's warm out!

12. Any summer vacation plans this year? No plans? Tell us about your dream summer trip!

Plans: down south for 5 days next week!
Dream: Nashville or L.A as I''m in love with those two places.

Thanks for reading/watching! :)
xx

Handwritten Letters

8/02/2013 goodbyegone 3 Comments

I just wrote a letter. A hand written letter, on paper, ready to drop in the postbox.

In the modern days of e-mail and text messaging, Facebook and twitter - I have noticed that this way of communication has vastly took a plane trip into the past. When we want to talk to someone now, we just pick up the phone or we open up a new e-mail, it's quick and easy and it means we get our response ASAP.

However, as sincere as it may be, it just doesn't let off the same relief or feeling as a letter does.

I say this meaning that, when writing a letter there's a sense of relief about finally getting your emotions out. They're right there in front of you, on that piece of paper.

The most beautiful thing about writing a letter is that you can actually see your emotions in your writing. You can see where you were excited - your writing got all messy as you were throwing it out so quick, where you weren't sure what to say next - a few spots of ink where you were going to write but didn't, where your words were 110% from your heart - your writing is shaky as you were scared but relieved to get the words out.

A letter, to me, is so much more beautiful and heartfelt than an e-mail or a text message and even though it's not convenient and it's quite time consuming, let me tell you, it feels so much better to write out your feelings and know that someone is going to open this letter and see exactly what you mean and how you felt when writing it.

The next time you want to tell somebody how you feel or just share your feelings with them, write it down. I promise you, it'll do you good (and they'll be super flattered that you took the time to do it).

Yours truly, Lauren. xo

Elizabeth Arden Lipstick Review: Pink Twilight [29]

7/21/2013 goodbyegone 0 Comments

Recently, I've really been getting into wearing lipsticks. As I don't wear very much make-up, I've noticed that a lipstick really brightens up my face and makes it look like I've put more effort into my make-up than I actually have.

The lipstick I've been loving for the past few weeks or so is the 'Elizabeth Arden Exceptional Lipstick in Pink Twilight'.

The lipstick itself is a matte pink. Although the product does have a bit of shimmer in it, it doesn't show up on the lips.

Ranging from £9-20, despite being a little pricey,  this lipstick definitely gives you what you pay for. The pigmentation is amazing and I find myself only having to apply one coat on my lips for it to last all day.

Colour: 10/10
Pigmentation: 9/10
Formula: 9/10
Overall: 9/10

(Please excuse the picture quality. Trying to photograph a pink lipstick in a pink room isn't easy)

How To: Lucy Hale's Waves

7/17/2013 goodbyegone 0 Comments

One of my biggest inspirations is Lucy Hale. I love her style and how confident she is in ev
ery aspect. One thing I am guilty of is copying her hairstyles. She always wears her hair very casual, either straight or curly, but always puts that little twist in it which makes it unique.

Today I decided to show you how to simply achieve her famous waves.

Before: I just washed and blowdried my hair. :)

Apply a heat protectant and brush through the hair. The one I used was the 'Schwarzkopf got2b guardian angle heat protection spray'.

Set your curling iron to it's lowest setting and curl all of your hair. I used my BaByliss curling wand to curl 1 inch sections of my hair.

Run your fingers through your hair to shake out some of the curls into a wavy style. Then add a texturizing spray to pull the waves apart and to give them more volume and shape. I used to 'Scharwzkopf got2b beach matt texturizing salt spray'.

^ And that's it! :) Do let me know if you've tried this out and if you'd like to see more of these types of posts!

Paris Loving...

7/10/2013 goodbyegone 0 Comments

Due to school and other plans, I'm not going on holiday this summer. It's the first year in a while that I haven't had any holiday plans so I am quite sad about that. However, I was looking through old photos to get me out of my misery and I found a bunch from Paris.

Paris is my most favorite city in the entire world. I've visited it a few times and last year I was lucky enough to go with some of my best friends. The whole trip was a whirlwind of excitement, laughs, love of the city and just a fun filled 5 days.

Here's a few photos to sum up the whole trip, day - by - day:

Of course I had to get Starbucks on the plane.

I'm the one in the pink and apparently also the one who took way too many photos here.

All these are from the rainy day we spent venturing around Paris and going on boat trips. Also the day in which Emma decided to make me (me being very afraid of heights) go to the top of the Montparnesse.
I'm glad she did though.

Extremely attractive faces on the POTC boat ride.

Me & Emma in Disney :)

Well, hi Mad Hatter!

It seems I get very excited about Toy Story....

To top it off... we had to walk up all these steps and around a few streets to find lunch. Let's just say we each extremely devoured hot dogs and chips once we found them.
